Summer Solutions Travel Information & What To Bring

Read the following information carefully, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Meals are furnished beginning with lunch on Monday and ending with brunch on Friday.

THINGS TO BRING:

  • Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)
  • Blanket, pillow, washcloth, towel
  • Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes for walking on campus and participation in lab work (there is going to be a lot of walking!!)
  • Casual dress for classroom and recreational activities is suggested. 
  • Be prepared for Missouri's changing weather. (sweater, sweatshirt, jacket)
  • Prescribed medications, if needed
  • Wear a watch and bring an alarm clock
  • Spending money if you want to purchase snacks at the movie/bowling/skating or shopping at the bookstore
  • Swimsuit, water shoes, sunscreen, etc. (for pool party)
  • Cell phone or calling cards.
  • Snacks (to keep in your room)

 It tends to be cold in the dorm during the summer months so it is recommended that you bring an extra blanket. You will be participating in lab activities and it is suggested that you bring shoes and shirts that you don’t mind getting dirty.  It is mandatory that you wear closed toe shoes during all lab activities. You will also be doing A LOT of walking, wear comfortable shoes!!

 

Arrival: Please plan to arrive at the Residential Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Monday morning.  If you are arriving at the St. Louis Airport, there is a shuttle service in Rolla called the USA Airport Express Shuttle Service.  USA Express delivers people to and from the airport daily.  If you would like to call to make a reservation, the number is 1-800-872-9399.   Once you arrive on campus we will be in the lobby area to assist you with your registration and to provide any updated information.  The introduction and welcome for students and parents is scheduled will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Departure:The WISE Summer “Solutions” camp will end at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.  This is intentional, as it provides a period when all university departments and offices are open and staffed.  You are encouraged to use this time to pursue activities on campus of an individual or personal interest with your parents.
