TRAVEL INFORMATION and WHAT TO BRING

THINGS TO BRING:

• Please only bring one overnight bag and be sure to mark your name on it, so that it may be easily identified.

• Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, etc.)
• Towels and washcloths
• Small foam or rubber mat for sleeping on (optional) (you will be sleeping in the lounge area on a carpeted floor)
• Sleeping bag, blanket, pillow (TJ Hall tends to be warm in cool weather)
• For the sake of modesty, we ask that you wear pants and a shirt to sleep in
• Wear comfortable closed toe shoes for labs and walking on campus (closed toe shoes are mandatory for all labs)
• Be prepared for Missouri’s changing weather. (sweater, sweatshirt, jacket)
• Prescribed medications, if needed
• Wear a watch
• Bring spending money for a shopping trip to the bookstore, snacks, and on Friday night for the evening out activityJ
• You are welcome to bring snacks
• AND. . .PREPARE YOURSELF TO HAVE FUN!

HOW LOCK-IN PARTICIPANTS CAN BE REACHED AT UMR:

Should parents need to reach their daughter during the day, you may contact the Women in Science & Engineering Program Office at 573-341-7286 or Thomas Jefferson Hall at 573-341-4895.  Pre-paid phone cards are another great resource for making calls.

DIRECTIONS

How to get to TJ Hall::

From East or Westbound on I-44:   take the second Rolla exit #186; Turn left if you are coming from the east, right if you are coming from the west, and go approx. 25 mile until you come to the stoplight at Hwy 63 – also called Bishop Ave; Turn left onto Bishop Ave (63) and go approximately .5 mile and you will see TJ on your left.  It’s the tallest building in Rolla!

From North Bound on Hwy 63:  Stay on Hwy 63 going North into Rolla.  You will see the MS&T McNutt Hall Mines and Metallurgy building on your right, at the junction of 63(Bishop) and University Drive; continue another .5 mile and you will see TJ on your left.  It’s the tallest building in Rolla!

From South Bound on Hwy 63:  Stay on Hwy 63 going South into Rolla.  You will see TJ hall on your right, approximately located at the junction of Hwy 63 and Pine Street.  It’s the tallest building in Rolla!

From Hwy 72:  Take Hwy 72 to the intersection of Hwy 72 and Hwy 63.  Turn right and stay on 63 going North; You will see the MS&T McNutt Hall Mines and Metallurgy building on your right, at the junction of 63(Bishop) and University Drive; continue another 0.5 mile and you will see TJ on your left.  It’s the tallest building in Rolla!
