INTRODUCTION

The 30 year-old Women in Engineering Program was established in 1975 and, for many years, primarily served as a scholarship program. However, throughout the 2000-2001 year, a Corporate Development Council, including alumnae in corporate positions, students, and faculty/staff, developed a renewed mission and strategic plan that includes several new student programs for girls in engineering, math, and science. In 2004 The University officially renamed the WEP to Women in Science and Engineering to clearly communicate the science component of the program. With all of these exciting changes taking place, the WISE has indeed experienced a New Beginning!
