Laurie L. Behm, M.D. is founder and co-owner of the Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Institute in Joplin, Missouri, and currently practices physical medicine and rehabilitation. She earned a B.S. degree in life sciences from UMR in 1984. She then proceed to University of Missouri-Columbia for medical School. She graduated from medical school in 1989.  She completed an internal medicine internship at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati and then transferred back to University of Missouri-Columbia for a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency which she completed in 1993. After completing residencies in physical medicine and rehabilitation and internal medicine, she opened a private practice in Joplin. The recipient of the 1984 Gale Bullman athletic award, Dr. Behm was inducted into the UMR Athletic Hall of Fame in September of 2000. Dr. Behm also received a Professional Degree in Biological Sciences from UMR in May of 2002. She holds memberships in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Medical Association. She also acts as medical director for the St. John?s Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation Unit.

 

Behm is married to Randall Wood, the vice president of manufacturing of Able Body Manufacturing in Joplin. They have two children, Ryan and Madison.
